Mark Villar tops Hong Kong-based senatorial poll, his camp says

The camp of UniTeam senatorial bet Mark Villar has underscored the former public works secretary's top ranking in a senatorial preference poll apparently conducted by Hong Kong-based surveyors.

In a statement sent to the media on Thursday, April 21, Villar's camp cites the results of a poll said to have been conducted by the HKPH-Public Opinion and Research Center in collaboration with the Asia Research Center.

According to them, Villar took 68.5 percent of the voter preference followed by fellow UniTeam Senate bet Loren Legarda at 65.1 percent, Raffy Tulfo at 62.3 percent, Chiz Escudero at 60.2 percent, Juan Miguel Zubiri at 54.7 percent, and Alan Cayetano at 52.3 percent.

While both the direct poll results and the metrics by which the poll was conducted can not be found online as of this writing, the Villar camp claims that the poll was conducted from April 3 to 8 via face-to-face interviews sampling 5,500 respondents.

“Masaya po ako sa resulta ng survey at maraming salamat po sa mga taong sumusuporta at naniniwala sa aking kakayahan na mag lingkod sa ating bansa. Isang malaking karangalan po ito saakin (I’m happy with the results of this survey and thank you to those who support and believe in my skills in serving the country. This is a great honor to me),” Villar said in the statement on April 21.
