“Kailangan ng bayan ang utak mo (The nation needs your brain).”
That was what President Duterte told SAGIP partylist Rep. and senatorial aspirant Rodante Marcoleta when he asked him to run for the Senate.
During his speech at the PDP-Laban campaign rally in Caloocan on Tuesday night, Duterte said it was him who urged Marcoleta to run after he saw how the lawmaker led the congressional hearing of failed franchise renewal attempt of ABS-CBN.
“Humanga ako sa kanya (I was amazed at him),” the President said.
Duterte said Marcoleta told him that he did not have any budget to run for this year’s election, but he said they could find a way by making even just little contributions.
In the latest senatorial surveys, Marcoleta, who is running under the ticket of frontrunning presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., was not included in the 12 most preferred senatorial bets.
