In a Facebook post, DepEd said that classes at all levels in public schools nationwide will be suspended from May 2 to 13 in preparation for the activities related to the May 9 national elections.

DepEd said that the suspension of classes in public schools during the election period is stated in DepEd Order No. 29 dated Aug. 5, 2021.

In the post, DepEd said that classes were suspended on the said dates to help its personnel --- especially the teachers who will serve in the polls --- to prepare for the National Election-related activities.

Meanwhile, DepEd said that teachers are still expected to report to their respective schools when there are no activities related to the elections.

“Ang mga guro ay inaasahan pa ring mag-report sa kanilang paaralan sa mga araw na walang election-related duties o activities (Teachers are still expected to report to their schools on days when they don't have election-related duties or activities),” DepEd said.

Learners from Kindergarten to Senior High School (Grades 11 to 12) in public schools are covered by the suspension of classes as announced by DepEd.
