Five more persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City before the start of the Holy Week recess last Wednesday, April 13.

Four of those released had been granted parole while the fifth PDL had served his jail term, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.

For this month of April, NBP has released a total of 32 PDLs.

BuCor Director General Gerald Q. Bantag has been expediting the release of qualified PDLs to decongest its seven prison facilities nationwide, BuCor said.

“All those released were given transportation allowances and gratuity,” it said.

“They were also briefed of the protocols needed to be followed outside the prison compound and given the necessary documents before being sent back to their families,” it added.
