BBM-Sara team will win in QC—Defensor

UniTeam’s standard bearer former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will win in Quezon City, mayoralty candidate Mike Defensor said.

Defensor predicted this will happen as he and his running mate, Winnie Castelo, have vowed to work for the landslide victory of the BBM-Sara slate in Quezon City.

Defensor and all the candidates under the Malayang Quezon City coalition made the promise during a massive rally held in Batasan Hills on Wednesday night.

Marcos, Jr. attended the assembly while Sara Duterte was represented by Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa. Defensor and Castelo are UniTeam’s candidates in Quezon City.

Defensor said Marcos and Duterte “are very popular here. I am sure you will win in our city, but we will try our best to deliver 90 percent of the votes.”

In response, Marcos Jr. said he is optimistic of their local candidates winning also in Quezon City, saying its constituents deserve a Defensor-Castelo as its next mayor and vice mayor.

Defensor said that under their administration, Quezon City will provide financial assistance through online means and house-to-house delivery to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.

Defensor earlier criticized the city government for getting residents to converge and crowd distribution centers to receive their pandemic financial assistance, exposing them to the disease.

He also vowed to provide free education for college students and senior citizen pension for those not covered by the national government’s subsidy program.

“Quezon City, with its P30.5-billion budget, can afford all those programs. Makati and Manila, with P18 billion, Taguig with P12 billion, and Valenzuela are all doing it. Why can’t Quezon City? Obviously, the P30-billion budget is spent on other things,” Defensor stressed.
