QCPD to deploy more than 2,000 cops on Holy Week 2022

Brig. Gen. Remus Medina, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said on Tuesday, April 12, that they will deploy around 2,200 cops to ensure public safety during the observance of “Semana Santa” or Holy Week 2022.

“Asahan natin ang pagdagsa ng mga tao sa mga terminal ng bus at tren, simbahan at mall, kung kaya kami ay maglalagay ng Police Assistance Desks (PADs) sa mga nasabing lugar para umalalay sa mga tao at mabilis na makapagresponde sa mga pagkakataong kakailanganin ang tulong ng kapulisan (Expect an influx of people at bus and train terminals, churches and malls, that’s why we will set up Police Assistance Desks (PADs) in those areas to assist people and to quickly respond to situations that require police assistance),” Medina said.

The QCPD said that they will also intensify police visibility and patrol to ensure the safety of the public and the implementation of Covid-19 health and safety protocols.

It also reminded the residents to be careful to avoid being victimized by thieves.

“Bagama’t handa po ang QCPD sa pagtugon sa anumang pangyayari, hinihiling po namin ang inyong kooperasyon at hinihimok ko na manatiling mapagmatyag at iulat sa pinakamalapit na himpilan ng pulisya at iba pang sangay ng gobyerno ang anumang kahina-hinalang aktibidad sa inyong lugar para mabigyan ng agarang aksyon (Although the QCPD is ready to respond to any incident, we ask for your cooperation and we encourage you to stay vigilant and report to the nearest police station and other government departments any suspicious activity in your area for immediate action),” Medina said.

The QCPD also advised the residents to stop posting their locations/whereabouts on social media, to inform a trusted relative or neighbor when leaving the house, to take note of contact numbers of barangay and police stations, and to be alert at all times to have a safe celebration of Holy Week.
