BOC employee shot by riding in tandem in Pasay City


A Bureau of Customs (BOC) lawyer was seriously injured when he was shot by two unidentified gunmen riding in tandem in Pasay City Monday night (April 4).

Col. Cesar Paday-os, Pasay City police chief, identified the victim as Atty. Joseph Samuel Zapata, 30, a resident of Barangay San Isidro, Paranaque City.

Paday-os said Zapata suffered gunshot wound at the back of his head and was rushed to the Manila Doctors Hospital on UN Avenue, Manila for treatment.

He said the incident happened around 5:40 p.m. along Macapagal Boulevard in front of MET Live, Barangay 76, Zone 10, Pasay City.

Police said the victim was driving his white SUV with plate number NBP 7726 heading southbound on Macapagal Boulevard when the motorcycle-riding suspects fired shots several times at the left portion of his vehicle.

The suspects immediately fled towards the direction of Manila area after the shooting incident.

A motorist passing the area, identified as Windy Lane Ochoco, of Central Bicutan, Taguig City, was accidentally hit by the vehicle of Zapata after the shooting incident.

Paday-os said the motive for the shooting of Zapata is job related.
