Priority drug suspects in Marinduque, Palawan arrested


CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – Eight priority high-value individuals were arrested in a renewed and region wide crackdown on criminals in Marinduque and Palawan, the police regional office announced over the weekend.

In his report to Brig. Gen. Sidney S. Hernia, regional director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-MIMAROPA (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Col. Christopher D. Melchor, provincial director of Marinduque Police Provincial Office (PPO), said that Christoper Murillo Lingon, 34, was arrested for allegedly selling one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing ‘shabu.’

The suspect, who hails from Sitio Maygayo Brgy. Daig, in Boac, was arrested after allegedly selling one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing “shabu,” in exchange for a one-thousand-peso bill to a police poseur-buyer in a joint police operation on Thursday.

The operation was carried out by Marinduque PPO Drug Enforcement Unit and Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), in coordination with the Boac Municipal Police Drug Enforcement Unit, and Regional Intelligence Unit- 4B.

Also seized from Lingon’s possession were two pieces of small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing “shabu” weighing more or less 0.18 grams, P1000 buy-bust money, and other paraphernalia.

Lingon is now under the custody of Boac municipal police station (MPS) while a complaint for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Republic Act 9165) is being prepared against him.

In Palawan, the province's Police Provincial Office Director Col. Adonis B. Guzman identified the arrested suspects as Francis Paul Abonales, 21, listed as the top 9 most-wanted of the region who is facing three counts of rape; Jeffre Ransang, 28, of Bataraza; Remond Dela Rama, 32, of Taytay ; Rafael Barrun, 34, of Quezon town; Renz Borja, 23, of Brgy. Liminangcong, Taytay; Julius Oguis, 21, also Quezon and Rufino Garcellano, 84, of Dumaran town.

Data from the Regional Investigative and Detection Management Division showed that PRO MIMAROPA had scored 133 arrested Most Wanted Persons (MWPs) in the first quarter of 2022, an increase of 39 or 41.49 percent from the 94 arrested MWPs in the same period last year.

Brig. Gen. Hernia lauded both the operatives of Marinduque and Palawan PPOs for their accomplishment as he further ordered his men to step up their campaign against lawless elements and wanted persons.
