OsMak receives second ISO certification for excellent quality health care

The Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) on Thursday, March 31, received its second International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification after displaying world-class quality health care to the public amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said that the hospital recently passed a three-day external audit by the certification body, Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS), awarding OsMak with its ISO 9001:2015 certification.

ISO 9001:2015 is defined as the international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS) used by organizations as the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. It was first published in 1987 by the ISO, an international agency composed of the national standards bodies of more than 160 countries.

Certification to the ISO 9001 standard can enhance an organization’s credibility by showing customers that its products and services meet expectations. In some instances or in some industries, certification is required or legally mandated.

Binay added that OsMak was first given its first ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Quality Management System in 2019, wherein it is always renewed every three years.

On March 4, 2021, the mayor announced that it's all-systems-go for the construction of the Ospital ng Makati 2 (OsMak 2) after the Makati City government and LifeNurture Inc. inked a Private-Public Partnership (PPP) agreement.

Binay said that OsMak 2 will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that include a Cancer Center with a linear accelerator for radiation treatment; a Cardiac Center with a cardiac catherization lab for angiography, open heart surgery, and organ transplantation surgeries; and a Physical Rehabilitation Medical Center that will use robotics in treating joint and soft tissue ailments.

The hospital will also feature a hybrid operating room that combines diagnostic imaging and surgical theater in one room to effectively manage complex surgeries, and a modern Wellness Center that will provide comprehensive examinations towards prevention or early detection of serious diseases.
