A single mother is now in critical condition in a hospital after she was allegedly stabbed 10 times by a neighbor who sneaked into her house at Sucol Gitna, Barangay San Sebastian in Hagonoy, Bulacan on Sunday night.
Police identified the victim as Aileen Dalora Fernando, 43.
According to police report, Fernando along with her cousin Marie Fernando dela Cruz, 21, had just arrived home at around 8:30 p.m. from a singing engagement in Barangay San Roque, also in Hagonoy, Bulacan, when she caught the suspect, Joemarie Martin Mora, 29, inside the comfort room.
A fistfight ensued between the victim and the suspect, prompting the siblings of Fernando to shout for help while Marie immediately went out of the house and sought the help of village officials.
The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed Fernando several times in the head and different parts of the body until she fell down on the floor.
Mora hurriedly fled, thinking that the victim was already dead.
The victim was rushed to Emilio District Hospital in Hagonoy, while the suspect was cornered by responding village officials and policemen.
During investigation, police found out that the suspect is a drug user and addicted to e-sabong (online cockfighting).
Attempted robbery and frustrated homicide cases are now being prepared for filing against the suspect, police said.
