New Laguna police director assumes post amid 'e-sabong' issue

SANTA CRUZ, Laguna – Col. Cecilio R. Ison Jr. took over the command as the new provincial director of Laguna Police Provincial Office (PPO) at Kampo Heneral Paciano Rizal on Friday, March 25.

Ison assumed the position left by Col. Rogarth B. Campo, who was relieved from his post after being linked to online cockfighting or e-sabong abductions.

During his speech at the turn-over of command ceremony, Police Regional Office (PRO) 4A Director Brig. Gen. Antonio C. Yarra recognized Campo's contribution in leading Laguna PPO over the past months.

A statement released by PRO 4A on March 23 said Yarra had already asked Campo to explain allegations that he received P1 million from gaming tycoon Atong Ang as revealed during a Senate hearing.

The regional director had also ordered the relief of three police personnel linked to e-sabong abductions. They are Pat. Roy Navarete, Staff Sgt. Daryl Paghangaan, and Master Sgt. Michael Claveria from the Laguna Provincial Intelligence Unit.
