Vice mayoral aspirant Sia leads Team PasigueñIYO proclamation rally

Vice mayoral aspirant Atty. Christian "Ian" Sia led Team PasigueñIYO's proclamation rally at Barangay San Joaquin, Pasig City on Friday, March 25, the first night of the local campaign period for the May elections.

During his speech at the rally, Sia said that he understands the sentiments of the poor communities in the city since he came from a similar experience in his childhood, and how important it is to be among the people.

He introduced the councilors in the team's slate, stressing their expertise, and urged the attendees to vote straight.

Team PasigueñIYO centered their platforms on affordable healthcare and education for the youth.

Incumbent Vice Mayor and mayoral aspirant Iyo Bernardo was not at the event.

However, Sia reiterated his support for Bernardo, saying the vice mayor does fulfill his duties in the city council.

"Ang gusto ko na mayor ay 'Yung totoong taga-Pasig, mahal kami at po-proteksyonan ang interest ng bawat isa sa lungsod (The mayor I want is someone who's truly from Pasig, who loves us, and will protect the interest of each person in the city)," Sia added.

In an interview with Pasig News Today after the rally, Sia told voters to be wary of online propaganda, with words of politicians being taken out of context.

It is more beneficial to center discussions on issues rather than politics, he added.

"Sa ganoong pamamaraan, lahat ng Pasigueño, ay tatalino po tayo. Maiintindihan natin ang isyu ng Bayan, maaaring matanda, bata o ano man...magiging mas malalim ang pagtanaw o pagbalanse sa mga isyu ng bayan (In that way, all Pasigueños will become smarter. We will understand the issues in our city, whether we're old or young...we will deepen our perspective and balance our views on the issues in the city)," Sia said.

The team’s candidates for councilor are Reggie Balderrama, Jana De Leon, Jessie Gaviola, Bobot Guevarra, and Migs Caruncho Trinidad for District 1; and Syvel Asilo, Charmie Benavides, Apple Benito, Steve De Asis, and Kaye Dela Cruz for District 2.

Prior to the proclamation rally early Friday morning, Bernardo and Team PasigueñIYO conducted a house-to-house campaign in Barangay Kapasigan.
