Eduard Folayang showed his top striking form after dominating muay thai legend John Wayne Parr in their lightweight bout set in ONE Super Series rules in ONE: X, ONE Championship's 10th-year anniversary, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium Saturday night, March 26.
Folayang, former ONE lightweight mixed martial arts champion, used his bread and butter that is wushu striking to overwhelm the Aussie legend.
The Team Lakay stalwart scored a second-round knockdown, though Parr stood still on the corner, after unloading powerful body blows and precise combinations.
After the knockdown, the 37-year-old Igorot warrior also connected a strong side kick and a solid right straight that pushed back Parr before the clapper.
Folayang's wushu style was evident after utilizing his spinning back fists and spinning heel kicks to fend off the muay thai great.
Parr redeemed himself in the third round after charging with a flurry of punches before soaring for a flying left knee which slightly hurt Folayang.
The 45-year-old Aussie fighter continued the assault with a barrage of punches to corner the Team Lakay veteran.
But Folayang endured the punishment and later regained his composure as he decided to put on a show and traded punches with Parr instead.
The two legends hugged each other at the top of the cage as Parr, a former 10-time World Champions, retired from combat sports with 99 wins on top of 45 KOs and 34 losses.
