The fire started at the residence of Evelyn Recopelacion, according to an initial report from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP-Iloilo City).

Since the houses were made of light materials and were adjacent to each other, the fire spread quickly.

Fire trucks of the BFP and volunteer fire brigade responded quickly to the site and were able to put the fire under control within an hour.

More than 30 families were affected by the fire. They were evacuated to Rizal Elementary School.

Officials of Barangay Tanza Timawa Zone 2 are seeking donations such as food, water and other necessary items for the victims.
