3 Philippine-based dining spots made it to Asia’s Best Restaurants list

A week before announcing its top 50 finest restaurants in Asia, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants reveals the premier dining spots in the continent that made its 51-100 list this 2022.

“This year’s 51-100 list features 25 new entries and turns the spotlight on the region’s emerging talent,” says William Drew, director of content for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. “We’re thrilled to share this list to showcase the breadth and diversity of Asia’s gastronomic scene as well as new culinary trends.”

Included in the list are Philippine-based restaurants Toyo Eatery in Manila taking the 94th spot, Antonio’s in Tagaytay in 74th, and Gallery By Chele in Manila tied with India’s Comorin at 69th place.

“We would like to thank The World’s 50 Best family for this recognition. This is something that we dedicate to our team for all the hard work, day in and day out, from the kitchen to the service, all the way to the back office, the collective effort of each individual just made things possible for us, in giving a magical experience to everyone who would sit at our table,” Gallery By Chele posted on social media.

“Congratulations to all who were included in the list from the Philippines and around Asia. We also believe that many other restaurants in Manila deserve this recognition. The industry went through some difficulty over the past years but it is really astounding to see many restaurants dedicate every effort to continuously create an elevated dining experience,” the restaurant continued. “This is a reminder to keep our commitment to continuously evolve, and bring that passion to every plate that we serve while staying true to our philosophy “Curated local Produce, inspired by tradition.”

In the 2021 list, Antonio’s took the 84th spot while Gallery by Chele was voted for the 90th spot. Toyo Eatery, on the other hand, made it to the top 50 list last year, landing in 49th place.
