LAGUNA – Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Director Brig. Gen. Antonio C. Yarra of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 4A has ordered the relief of police personnel linked to online cockfighting or e-sabong abductions.
A statement released by PRO 4A on Wednesday, March 23, identified the policemen as Pat. Roy Navarete, Staff Sgt. Daryl Paghangaan, and Master Sgt. Michael Claveria from the Laguna Provincial Intelligence Unit.
During a Senate hearing on March 21, Navarete and Paghangaan were identified by witnesses to be allegedly involved in the abduction of e-sabong agent Ricardo Lasco in San Pablo in August 2021.
The relieved personnel will be reassigned to the regional headquarters in Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba to ensure their availability during the investigation.
The Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS) will also conduct a motu proprio investigation on the policemen's alleged involvement in the case.
Yarra also asked Laguna Provincial Director Col. Rogarth B. Campo to explain allegations that he received P1 million from gaming tycoon Atong Ang as revealed during the Senate hearing.
