Lovi Poe renews contract with Regal, tries scriptwriting

Lovi Poe

Alluring actress Lovi Poe strutted the corridor of Club Filipino in heels, wearing a long-sleeved pink satin top matched by fuchsia mini skirt. Pink certainly suited Lovi as it's a nice contrast to her tanned skin. However, there was nothing ''political" about her choice of outfit that day. She was starring in her own media conference for the renewal of her contract with Regal Entertainment.

For Regal and Lovi, the relationship dates back almost 15 years. The actress waxes sentimental when she thinks about it. She said she was only a teenager when Regal took a chance on her by giving her a supporting role in 2007's "Shake, Rattle & Roll 9." This paved the way for Lovi's first award when she was hailed as New Movie Actress of the Year by PMPC Star Awards for Movies in 2008.

"You will receive a thousand nos, but it's always the first Yes that matters. Regal paved the way for me in show business and until now, I just feel the love from them. Am grateful to be part of this family," Lovi stated after renewing her contract in the presence of her manager Leo Dominguez and Regal Entertainment's lady boss Roselle Monteverde.

For her part, Monteverde only has praises for Lovi's  professionalism. "We've witnessed her growth and maturity through the years. Wala kaming sakit ng ulo sa kanya. She has shown great talent and passion for her craft."

A look at Lovi''s career shows that some of her memorable roles as a well-rounded performer have been with Regal Entertainment. There's "The Annulment," "The Escort," "Woke Up Like This," "Aswang," "My Neighbor's Wife,"  the "Shake, Rattle & Roll" series, to name just a few.

At the media conference in Greenhills, San Juan last March 18, the 33-year-old Lovi announced that her first  project with Regal for 2022 is already in the works. She proudly revealed that the created the story concept for the movie which is entitled 'Season, Reasons And a Lifetime."

"It was from my idea, and I worked closely with Miss Roselle (Monteverde) to develop it. What I like about Regal is that they're very open to collaborating with me. You could say that Seasons is my very first story that was made into a film," she stated. Roselle is the current COO and Vice President of Regal Entertainment, Inc.

Lovi noted that she's definitely all for stretching her creativity - not just as an actress, but trying other roles that contribute towards the making of a film. "Stepping out of my comfort zone is a big thing. I actually have a notebook full of ideas. There's just too much growth in me now, and I'd like to push myself even more."

Seasons, she pointed out,  is all about life and love. It will also be her first team-up with Carlo Aquino. "The inspiration for Seasons is something I imagine people go through. We experience relationships that just pass by in our life like seasons. We try until we find the Right One that lasts a lifetime."

Asked by reporters in what season she is with her LA-based film producer-boyfriend Montgomery Blencowe, Lovi replied: "Summer. We're definitely in summer because it's warm."

As she gears for the second chapter of her book with Regal Entertainment, Lovi revealed that doing an action movie is a dream and is definitely on her bucket list. She says it's special because that would be a great way to honor her father, Da King Fernando Poe Jr.

"Am a huge fan of the FPJ-Maricel Soriano team-up," she revealed.

Lovi ticked off the following as her favorites among her father's films: "Ang Panday," "Batang Quiapo," "Isusumbong Kita sa Tatay Ko," and "Perlas ng Silangan," Lovi said a female version of "Ang Panday" portrayed by her would be a highlight of her career, if it comes true.
