Baguio donates Covid-19 vaccines to other LGUs


BAGUIO CITY – Due to the ample supply of Covid-19 vaccines coupled with its high vaccination rate, the city government has decided to donate around 100,000 vaccines to other Local Government Units (LGU) in need.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the city has donated to Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, several provinces of Region III, including Nueva Ecija.

He said the city will also donate to several other provinces in Region IV that are also asking for vaccines.

“The city government will continue to donate vaccines to other LGU’s that may need these even to those in the Visayas and Mindanao. Makakatulong tayo sa ating mga kababayan,”said Magalong.

As per record, the city has more than enough supply of vaccines and some private companies have even expressed their willingness to give thousands more, especially Moderna vaccines.

Earlier, City Health Services Office head Dr. Rowena Galpo disclosed that the city has a supply of 78,549 Covid-19 vaccines as of March 7.

Of the total, 30,190 are AstraZeneca vaccines, 30,624 Pfizer, 8,650 Moderna, 6,319 Sinovac, and 1,766 Gamaleya.

As of March 19, a total of 279, 578 or 99.9 percent of the city’s population of 281,000 have already been fully vaccinated, while a total of 283,154 or 104.33 percent of the city’s eligible population of 281,000 have already received their first dose. In all, the total number of vaccines that were administered reached 736,532.
