The Caloocan City government announced on Saturday, March 19, that 17 frontliners will be given plaques on Monday, March 21, as a recognition for their dedication, services, and sacrifices to improve the city’s situation against Covid-19.
The event, which is in line of the city’s “Frontliner’s Day” celebrated every March 15, will be held at the city hall grounds where essential workers, including doctors, police officers, firemen, vaccination and swabbing personnel, emergency responders, media practitioners, and tricycle drivers will be cited.
“Napakalaki ng sakripisyo ng ating mga frontliner upang mapabuti ang ating sitwasyon sa laban kontra COVID-19. Taos-pusong pasasalamat sa kanilang hindi matatawarang serbisyo (Our frontliners’ had a major sacrifice to improve our situation against Covid-19. Sincere gratitude for their invaluable service),” Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan said.
Groups and organizations who showed their support in the city’s campaign against Covid-19 will also be recognized.
Councilor Vince Hernandez, who authored the Ordinance No. 0911 S.2021 (Frontliner’s Day), said the celebration is a symbol of salutation to the fronliner’s heroism.
Hernandez also said that the city extends its symphaties and salutations to the families of frontliners who died in the midst of the pandemic.
The Caloocan City Frontliner’s Day was first celebrated last year.
