Angelica Panganiban seeks netizens' help over tax issues

Actress Angelica Panganiban has asked her Twitter followers for "enlightenment" relating to a taxation quandary.

She wrote: "Guys, please enlighten me (smiling face with open mouth and cold sweat emoji) honest question ito. Ano ang basehan ng customs sa pag tax ng item mo? Bakit mag kasing halaga na ang tax na pinabayaran sakin at ng item na wala naman silang hinihinging resibo para malaman ang presyo ng item?"

An online user quickly replied, explaining that it depends on the declared value of the item as noted by the sender.

"If its an online purchase, they require online stores to attach a copy of amount declaration on the package na po," the netizen explained.

But Angelica is seemingly aware of it.

She related: "Yun nga dapat diba? Wala naman nakalagay from seller. Hindi din sila tumawag sakin. (Na usually naman nangyayari, then ipapadala ko sa kanila yung screenshot ng binayaran ko online) this time, nagulat na lang ako sa laki ng pinabayaran sakin (crying face emoji)."

Though she didn't quite get the answer she wanted, Angelica thanked all those who replied to her query.

"Nakakapng hinayang lang na wala akong choice kundi bayaran yung singil nila. Kung alam ko lang na 70% yung babayaran kong tax sa customs. D na ko bumili online," she said.

Last year, Angelica's good friend, Bela Padilla called out the Bureau of Customs for the delayed release of her overseas packages.

Customs, on their part, simply apologized for the inconvenience.
