10 suspects on board 3 vans, undetermined amount of shabu intercepted in Infanta town

QUEZON – Ten persons on board three vans and suspected of carrying still undetermined quantity of shabu were intercepted by authorities on Tuesday morning in Infanta town here.

In a sketchy report, Quezon Police Provincial Office said that National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives, assisted by the municipal police station and military assigned in the place, carried out the operations at around 4 a.m.

The suspects were arrested right in a checkpoint in Brgy. Comon.

Police Major Francis Aldrich Garcia, chief of Infanta police, said the authorities set up that checkpoint in Comon upon learning of a Nissan van loaded with shabu.

The QPPO, headed by Col. Joel Villanueva, did not give the full details while an in-depth investigation is still ongoing.

The seized drugs will be taken to the National Bureau of Investigation field office in Rizal province for proper documentation.

On his Facebook page, acting Infanta mayor L.A. Ruanto estimated that the said shabu weighed around one ton.

“Malaki ang posibilidad na mula sa karagatan ng Pasipiko ay dinala ito sa pampang ng Infanta at ng madaling araw ay tinangkang ipuslit palabas ng Quezon,” Ruanto said.
