2 robbery suspects nabbed at checkpoint after being chased by victim

Two motorcycle-riding men were arrested by police at a checkpoint after the woman they allegedly robbed chased them in Pasig City on Thursday, March 10.

Col. Roman C. Arugay, chief of Pasig City Police, identified the suspects as Norbert Julian Guinoo, 28, and Grant Steven Guinoo, 21, both residents of Makati City.

The police report said members of the Pasig City Police Sub-Station 2 saw a tricycle, driven by Joshua Pascua, 22, pursuing a motorcycle toward a Commission on Elections (Comelec) checkpoint.

The woman passenger of the tricycle shouted for help and told the police that the riding duo robbed her.

The cops tried to block the suspects, but they sped off. However, the motorcycle slid and the riders both fell on the road.

One of the suspects was immediately apprehended, while the other was caught by police after a brief chase.

Police recovered from the suspects a .38-caliber revolver loaded with five bullets, and a seven-inch long kitchen knife.

The suspects were brought to the Rizal Medical Center for treatment of injuries. They are now detained at Pasig City Police Sub-Station 2.

The suspects will be charged with robbery-holdup, violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
