Lacson says he will woo QC people directly if he fails to get local gov’t endorsement

Partido Reporma presidential candidate Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said on Tuesday he will directly woo voters of Quezon City if he fails to get the endorsement of its local leaders.

Lacson made the promise after Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice Mayor Gian Carlo Sotto formally endorsed the vice presidential bid of his runningmate Senate President Vicente Sotto III.

Sotto, according to Belmonte, is the unanimous choice of more than 100 members of the Liga ng mga Barangay of Quezon City as their vice presidential candidate.

But Belmonte said the group has yet to decide whether or not to endorse Lacson as their presidential candidate.

Sought to comment, Lacson said he is prepared to directly bring his campaign to the people of Quezon City.

“Endorsements are good especially coming from credible local leaders like Mayor Joy Belmonte and Vice Mayor Gina Sotto,” Lacson said.

“If it’s given, I would welcome it wholeheartedly. If not, then I wil have to go directly to the people of Quezon City,” he added.

“In past elections, at least in the three senatorial runs that I had, I got good numbers from Quezon City. I hope I can maintain that mandate and support from them,” the lawmaker said.
