Yuka Saso slips to 43rd after second-round 73 in HSBC tourney

Yuka Saso struggled with a one-over-par 73 to skid for a share of 43rd place after two rounds in the HSBC Women’s World Championship at the Sentosa Golf Club, Tenjong Course in Singapore Friday.

The 20-year-old reigning US Women’s Open champion stumbled at the front nine by shooting three bogeys against two birdies before making a birdie and a bogey on the last six holes.

She had a two-round total of 144 after a first-round 71 to trail second-round leaders Jin Young Ko and Amy Kang by eight shots.

Jin, the world No. 1, and Kang fired identical 67s for a two-round aggregate of 136. They had a first-round score of 69.

Jin carded five birdies for a bogey-free round while Yang carded seven birdies against bogeys on the third and 15th.

Tied at third with similar 137 after shooting identical 68s were Megan Khang, Atthaya Thitikul and Brooke Henderson, while at sixth where In Gee Chun (68), Pajaree Anannarukarn (69), Angela Yin (69) and A Lim Kim (70).

Meanwhile, defending champion Hyo Joo Kim jumped for a share of 26th with a 70.
