Kelra’s Maniac caps Omega's dramatic comeback over Onic for first MPL S9 win

The comeback kings struck once again as Omega Esports scored its first win in the MPL Philippines Season 9 in a dramatic fashion after pulling off a clutch base defense capped by a Duane "Kelra" Pillas' Maniac to turn back Onic Philippines, 2-1, on Friday, March 4.

With Onic PH marching and locking on its base along with the Luminous Lord, Omega managed to hold on with its defense as Kelra on the Beatrix one by one took down the Onic heroes to score a Maniac and a wipeout.

Omega survived the push which only left an inch of HP on its base. The four heroes left standing for Omega then went for a one-way push to complete an 11-15 comeback and notch its first win in the tournament.

Kelra finished with a 6-1-1 tally in the deciding game, none bigger than the last four kills in the final clash.

Omega finally regained its form evident in the team's dominant 11-7 win in the series opener against Onic. Christian “Raizen” Sumagui starred in the Game 1 victory with a 4-1-5 KDA on his Lancelot to spearhead the non-stop aggression from Omega to notch the wire-to-wire win.

Gaining the confidence, Omega steadily controlled Game 2 before Markyyy and Hatred rescued Onic from a looming sweep.

It was Hatred’s Lord steal at the 12-minute mark that initiated the comeback for Onic although Omega went for a trade as it took down two heroes. The Lord march, however, allowed Onic to create some breathing and regain map control.

Markyyy then took over in the final Lord dance as he helped Onic score a wipe out on Omega to force the jugular Game 3.
