BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said 211,899 travelers arrived at various international ports in February which was 40 percent higher than the previous month's total of 150,740.

"This is more than 130 percent higher compared to 91,000 that entered the country for the same month in 2021," the BI chief said.

BI port operations chief Carlos Capulong said the big majority of arrivals were Filipinos, followed by Americans with 21,383; Canadians, 4,026, and British, 3,250.

Morente said that after almost two years of travel restriction and borders closure due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19), "it was a great relief that families and binational couples are reunited again."
