BJMP CALABARZON tops NCRPO marksmanship challenge

These jail officers can really shoot well.

A team of marksmen from the CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) office of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) won the overall championship in the Second National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Regional Mobile Force Battalion Tactical Operators Team Marksmanship Challenge.

Dubbed as the “Clash of Tactical Operators’’, the BJMP Calabarzon's Special Tactics and Response (STAR) bested 41 other law enforcement, branch of services and tactical operating teams of other agencies in the marksmanship challenge held at the NCRPO Firing Range from Feb. 23 to 24.

The marksmanship challenge included five stages that were designed not only to showcase the expertise and marksmanship skills of the teams “but also, to test their discipline and camaraderie.’’

Aside from the BJMP-Calabarzon, the BJMP-National Capital Region (NCR) STAR team secured the runner up finish in the best guest team category.

BJMP Chief Jail Director Allan Iral commended the teams for their efforts in topping the competition.

With the victory, Iral said “this only shows the BJMP STAR Team’s capability in terms of readiness, skills, and proficiency which are critical requirements to ensure a safe and peaceful resolution of an incident, particularly in a jail setting.’’

“The safety of PDL (persons deprived of liberty) and our personnel is our top priority during jail incidents,’’ Iral noted.

The BJMP chief added “in topping tactical simulations like this one, we’re not only successful in showing our skills in tactical operations but our operational readiness as well to manage an incident in our facilities.’’ (Chito A. Chavez)
