Peace covenant signed in Rizal Province for orderly and peaceful elections


Representatives from various sectors in Rizal Province signed a covenant for the orderly and peaceful conduct of the May 9, 2022 elections in an event initiated by the Philippine National Police, held Friday, Feb. 25, in Taytay, Rizal.

The event, led by the Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO), the SAFE NLE 2022 (Secure, Acurate, Free/Fair Elections for the National and Local Elections 2022) started with a unity walk with some local candidates, policemen, representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, government and private sectors, and religious sectors, joining, from the Provincial Jail compound to the PPO headquarters in Taytay.

Rizal Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Mitzele Veron Morales-Castro welcomed the PNP-initiated peace covenant activity as a move to have an orderly election period in Rizal Province.

Atty. Castro told Manila Bulletin that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is aiming for the orderly conduct of the lecetions and with the candidates abiding by the regulations.

PPO director Col. Dominic Baccay led the police personnel in giving assurance that the police force will work towards an orderly conduct of the elections.
