During his 12-year term in Senate from 2007 to 2018, the former Navy officer made his mark for his anti-corruption crusade and being a staunch critic of corrupt officials.

The 30-second campaign ad highlights Trillanes’ courage in fighting corruption in government and his advocacy to eradicate poverty.

It also reiterated his quest to promote justice, fight abuses, and defend the nation’s sovereignty against China.

“Ito ang ating tungkulin. Tulung-tulong, sama-sama (This is our duty. Helping each other together),” Trillanes said.

“Sa atin magmumula ang tapang. Tayo ang bantay ng bayan (Courage comes from us. We are the guard of nation),” he added.

Netizens were quick to laud the former senator’s new campaign ad. Some compared him to superhero Batman because he can fight the evil in Gotham City.

“Di na kailangan ng isang Cardo Dalisay at Batman. Si Sonny Trillanes ang totoong bantay ng bayan! #TrillanesSaSenado (We don’t need a Cardo Dalisay and Batman. Sonny Trillanes is the new guard of nation),” Leon Ibarra Morato wrote.

“Trillanes ibalik sa senado para sa bantay bayan. Kalaban ng mga abusado at magnanakaw (Bring back Trillanes to the Senate to guard the nation. The enemy of abusers and thieves)!” added Adonis Nolasco Delacruz.

Trillanes is running under the ticket of independent presidential candidate and Vice President Leni Robredo.

His candidacy is also endorsed by the opposition group 1Sambayan.
