Muntinlupa City’s active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases have stayed below 100 in the last 10 days as the number of new cases in the country continued to decrease.

From Feb. 10 to 19, Muntinlupa’s daily active cases averaged 76 per day. From 130 on Feb. 9, the city’s active cases decreased to 99 on Feb. 10 followed by 78 on Feb. 11, 73 on Feb. 12, 74 on Feb. 13, 63 on Feb. 14, 76 on Feb. 15, 84 on Feb. 16, 72 on Feb. 17, 73 on Feb. 18 and 66 on Feb. 19.

OCTA Research’s Dr. Guido David listed Muntinlupa as having six new cases on Feb. 19 based on data from the Department of Health (DOH).

This put Muntinlupa as the fifth local government unit (LGU) in the NCR with the lowest daily tally of new cases for the day.

On Feb. 19, the DOH reported that there were 1,923 new COVID-19 cases in the whole country, down from 2,232 recorded on Feb. 18. There are 62,533 active cases in the Philippines.

During a briefing last Feb. 15, Health Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said based on the projection of the FASSSTER monitoring platform, if the current minimum public health standards would be maintained, the number of cases in the country could go down to as low as 83 by March 15.

But if people would become complacent in following the health protocols, the projected cases could increase.

Vergeire said the numbers could reach 7,748 cases per day if people fail to comply with health standards by 19 percent.

She said the projections were based on the characteristics of the Omicron variant, mobility of population, vaccination coverage and compliance with the minimum public health standards.
