Specifically, the veteran congressman congratulated Quizon for bringing home the championship last Feb. 10 in the blitz event, chess men's division during The Philippine Selection for SEA (Southeast Asian) Games tilt.

"Congratulations muli (again) Daniel! Makakasiguro ka sa suporta ng bawa’t Dasmariñeno sa puso at diwa (You can rely on every Dasmariñeno to support you in heart and in spirit). The country and city is very very proud of you!" Barzaga wrote.

He further described the 18-year-old Quizon as the "chess wizard" who won the title in the Philippine National Open Chess tournament.

It is by virtue of this victory that Quizon will be representing the Philippines in two events in the upcoming SEA Games in Vietnam this May.

"Maglalaro si Daniel sa standard event at sa blitz event para sa men’s division (Daniel will play in the standard event and in the blitz event under the men's division)," Barzaga noted.

Quizon earned his IM title in 2018 when he was just 14 years old. He was a participant in the Chess World Cup 2021.
