The city government launched the “Resbakuna Kids” campaign last Feb. 7 at two sites: Ospital ng Muntinlupa (OsMun) in Barangay Alabang and Laguerta Health Center in Barangay Tunasan.

CHO acting chief Dr. Juancho Bunyi led the launching and the ceremonial inoculation of children at the Cupang Health Center.

Bunyi urged parents in the city to register their kids in the city’s vaccination database and assured them that vaccines approved by the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are safe and effective

At the launching, the Cupang Health Center was decorated with cartoon characters and action figures while children received loot bags, free food, and ice cream.

Bunyi said the initiative aims to provide a relaxing environment in the vaccination sites and to lessen the stress of kids during the process.

The city government has vaccinated more than 2,600 kids, aged five to 11, in the first week of the rollout in Muntinlupa.

From Feb. 7 to 13, the city government has vaccinated 2,687 kids or four percent of the estimated target population of 68,198.

Of the total, Barangay Putatan has the highest number of vaccine takers for the age group with 566, followed by Tunasan with 487, Alabang with 419, Poblacion with 365, Cupang with 326, Ayala Alabang with 147, Sucat with 125, Bayanan with 105 and Buli with 46. There are also 101 non-residents who were vaccinated during the period.

A total of 13,557 kids aged five to 11 have been registered for inoculation in Muntinlupa or 20 percent of the target.

Muntinlupa Mayor Jaime Fresnedi urged residents not to be complacent and to continue following the minimum public health protocols such as the wearing of face masks, physical distancing and washing of hands. He also encouraged Muntinlupeños to get vaccinated and get their booster shots.

As of Feb. 13, Muntinlupa has 74 active coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases out of 39,656 confirmed cases, 38,973 recoveries, and 609 deaths.
