Gerald Anderson falls victim to 'basag-kotse' gang

Gerald Anderson lost millions in valuables to thieves who broke into his parked car in Roces Avenue, Quezon City, recently.

Based on CCTV camera footage of the incident, two men riding a motorcycle were responsible for the crime.

One of them used his helmet to break one of the windows of the actor's SUV.

In an interview with media, Monday, the actor related that among items stolen by the gang were several IDs, his passport, as with his laptop.

He shared: "Ang sama ng pakiramdam na 'yon eh, 'yung information mo, 'yung credit card, ATM card mo... nawala."

Thankfully, one of the suspects eventually surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Authorities learned that the suspect hacked into Gerald's email account using the actor's laptop, transferring P50,000 from Anderson's crypto wallet into his GCash account.

Another suspect, who was caught by police in a hideout in Tondo, Manila, maintained the robbery was "random" and that they didn't intentionally target the actor's vehicle.

"Naghahanap po kami ng madidiskartehan ng pera. Hindi po namin sadya na makita 'yung sasakyan ni sir Gerald Anderson po. Ta's noong sinilip ko po, may laman po 'yon. Kinuha ko po," he said, relating he earned some P20,000 from the heist.

Gerald has learned his lesson.

His advice to other motorists?

"Wag talagang mag-iwan ng bag sa loob ng kotse niyo."
