ABS-CBN, Youtube to co-produce digital content

ABS-CBN Corporation continues with its digital shift by forging a partnership with YouTube, its first time in the Philippines, to develop and produce a new original series that will stream exclusively on the video streaming platform.

In a statement, ABS-CBN, the country’s leading content provider, announced that they will be producing a romantic-comedy that will premiere on YouTube this year.

The co-production deal is the latest initiative of ABS-CBN to expand its digital content offerings and reach more audiences on YouTube with the goal of serving more Filipinos on various platforms.

ABS-CBN has been streaming its live and on-demand shows via Kapamilya Online Live on YouTube. It also offers “Made for YouTube” entertainment, lifestyle, and music shows, and ABS-CBN Superview, which offers free streaming of hit movies.

The digital shows are all viewed on ABS-CBN Entertainment, the most subscribed (38 million subscribers) and most viewed (45 billion views) YouTube channel in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN reported that it continues to go global with more of its world-class shows reaching foreign audiences including African territories and Myanmar.

The firm said its "New Beginnings" show is the latest to air in over 41 African countries, including Kenya, Ghana, and Madagascar via the StarTimes channel. Also making waves in the African French-speaking region is the action-drama series "Asintado."

Following positive reviews and good ratings in La Réunion via ART for its French-dubbed version, the show also began airing in one of Ivory Coast's best-known French language, RTI 2.

More ABS-CBN shows are also being aired in Myanmar, with its primetime series "Deceptive Revenge" premiering last January 31 on Fortune TV—in time for its finale week in the Philippines.

Aside from African and Asian countries, the programs of ABS-CBN, the Philippines' leading content provider, have also made waves in different parts of the world, including Latin America where the 2015 version of "Pangako Sa'Yo" aired in Ecuador, Peru, and Dominican Republic.

"The Heiress" also aired in Ecuador; Turkey with their foreign adaptation of "A Mother's Guilt," among many others.

ABS-CBN has been a premier source of high-quality Filipino programming in over 50 territories worldwide and has sold over 50,000 hours of content worldwide.

Living up to this recognition, ABS-CBN International Distribution commits to add to its line-up of high-caliber programs and movies with cast and storylines that appeal to various cultures.
