Vice presidential aspirant Dr. Willie Ong on Monday. Feb. 7, said that he was willing to lead the Department of Health (DOH) if his running mate and presidential candidate Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso wins the highest position.

In an interview with Super Radyo DZBB, the vice presidential aspirant said he would take any position that will be given to him, but would most likely choose to lead the health department.

"Oo, walang problema. Kapag si Mayor Isko ang naging presidente, most likely kukunin natin 'yung DOH para matulungan natin pero kung saan niya tayo ilalagay pwede naman eh. Kasi marami tayong babantayan, 'yung FDA , papalakasin, 'yung PhilHealth tututukan. Kahit 'yung mga DSWD , mga ayuda, (Yes, there is no problem. If Mayor Isko becomes president, I will most likely get the DOH to help them but wherever he will assign me is fine. Because we will have a lot to monitor, the FDA, PhilHealth, and DSWD)" Ong said during the interview.

The cardiologist said one of his plans is to intensify more campaigns about the beneficial effects of COVID-19 vaccine.

Ong, meanwhile, said if he loses in the coming elections, he will try to run again for the public office.

“Baka uulit tayo nang uulit hanggang manalo tayo kasi 'yan lang naman ang kailangan. Tinatry ko kasi 'yung daan na malinis eh na kung puwede manalo na walang utang kahit kanino para makagawa tayo ng maganda, (Maybe we will do it again and again until we win because that’s what is needed. I'm trying to keep the road clean so that we can win without owing anyone so that we can do good),” he said.

Ong also clarified that he is not accepting campaign funds from anyone.
