Aspiring president Vice President Leni Robredo is not ready to move on from the multi-billion-peso pork barrel scam that came to light many years ago, stressing the need to get to the bottom of this if elected.
Asked whether or not she is ready to move on from the infamous Priority Development Assistance Fund scam during the Panata sa Bayan: The KBP Presidential Candidates Forum on Friday, Feb. 4, Robredo answered a stern no.
"Hindi pa. Hindi pa tayo ready mag-move on kasi marami pang kaso ang walang resolution (Not yet. We are not yet ready to move on because there are still many more cases with no resolution)," Robredo said.
The aspiring president stressed that "we need to get to the bottom of this" as she bared that there are even candidates allegedly involved in the P10-billion pork barrel scam who are running in the national and local elections.
"Sa akin talaga kailangan (For me, we really need to) we get to the bottom of this kasi 'pag walang resolution paulit-ulit talaga siyang mangyayari (because if there is no resolution, it will only happen repeatdly)," she said.
The Vice President emphasized that it needs a swift justice system to combat this as she lamented that some of those being accused only ended up not being pursued.
"Pagktapos ng proseso siguraduhin na mananagot yung dapat managot kasi 'pag hindi ito nangyayari, walang deterrent e. Paulit ulit siyang nangyayari kasi yung mga unang inakusahan, wala naman nangyari doon sa accusation. So kailangan talaga yung justice system, ayusin natin (After the process, we have to ensure that those who were involved must be held responsible because if this does not happen, there will be no deterrent. It will just happen repeatedly because nothing happened to those who were first accused. So, we really need to fix our justice system)," Robredo said.
If elected, the presidential aspirant also vowed that her she will not favor anyone if an investigation on the pork barrel scam takes place under her administration.
"Kasama, hindi kasama, kalaban, kakampi, wala tayong kikilingan kasi oras na may kinilingan tayo magiging failure na lahat. 'Pag may pinaburan tayong isang grupo magiging failure na lahat ng ginagawa natin. Dito nakasalalay yung tiwala ng taumbayan (Ally or rival, we will not favor anyone because once we do, it will be a failure. If we favor a group, everything that we're doing will be a failure. Public trust will depend on this)," she further said.
