DOST-MIMAROPA, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Marinduque, Office of the House of Representatives in Marinduque, and Marinduque State College (MSC), is set to launch the first interactive science exhibit in Region IV-B in the first quarter of 2022, the DOST announced on Thursday, Feb. 3.

“The DOST-funded Regional Science Centrum, housed at the MSC, features 35 interactive exhibits that make science facts, principles, and concepts relatable and more understandable to the general audience,” it said in a press statement.

The exhibits include the “dancing worm” which explains magnetic fields; “frozen shadow” which teaches light; and “watch me pedal” which shows the movement of the bones and joints of the body.

“The Regional Science Centrum will provide an informal yet exciting and stimulating learning environment for the youth to ignite their interest in pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics courses that will help develop a science culture in the region, and eventually in the entire country,” said DOST.

The DOST added that the Regional Science Centrum will carry two units of the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosk Stations also known as STARBOOKS which may provide visitors digitized science and technology resources in several formats.
