Bongbong skips KBP forum, attends another interview instead

Presidential aspirant Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Friday attended a different, one-on-one interview after skipping the widely-broadcasted Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) Presidential Candidates forum.

Marcos Jr. granted broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez' interview, as seen in an Instagram story posted on his account.

Aside from an interview, he also did some cooking activity with Sanchez.

Sanchez said in a Facebook post: "To be clear: When we invited BBM it was his team who chose the time and date. We had no choice"

According to Marcos spokesman, Vic Rodriguez, his interview with the broadcaster "is just but one of the many activities we have in the full schedule."

Marcos non-participation in the KBP forum was widely talked about after his leading rival candidates—Vice President Leni Robredo, Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso, Senators Ping Lacson and Manny Pacquiao and labor leader Leody de Guzman—attended the event.

Marcos Jr. is a frontrunner in various presidential surveys.

Rodriguez, in an interview with DZRH on Thursday night, said they already declined the invitation from KBP as early as January due to Marcos Jr.'s other commitments.

The KBP forum aired live from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on hundreds of local and national broadcasting outlets.
