BIR extends tax payment deadlines in COVID Alert Level 3 areas


The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has extended for 30 days the deadline for the filing of returns and payment of corresponding taxes in areas classified by the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) under Alert Level 3, or higher.

Based on the Revenue Regulations 1-2022 issued by BIR Commissioner Caesar R. Dulay, the extension also covered submission of reply and protest and other documents relative to the on-going investigation.

Also included are applications for tax refunds and issuance of assessment notices and seizure warrants.

The BIR chief reiterated in the same directive his previous instructions to taxpayers to file and pay taxes at the nearest authorized agent banks(AABs), or at the revenue district office regardless of jurisdiction.

Better still, he said taxpayers should file and pay taxes online using the electronic payment has portals of AABs to avoid catching the coronavirus disease.

He said taxpayers may also avail of the services mobile payment application of GCash and PayMaya
