Flick shines in debut as Onic PH ends Bren Esports’ Sibol campaign


Onic Philippines newcomer Ralph “Flick” Hamoy turned heads in his debut as he helped Onic Philippines eliminate Bren Esports, 2-0, in their best-of-three lower bracket match in the 2022 Sibol National Team Selection on Saturday, Jan. 29.

Flick, who came in for Onic’s star jungler Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol for the Sibol tryouts, proved his worth after a head-turning performances on his jungle Paquito and Fanny picks.

Although Onic didn’t utilize Flick in its first two games, the rookie jungler showed up with a neat 7-0-8 KDA on the Paquito in Game 1 before impressing with a Fanny pick with 3-1-5 showing in Game 2.

Flick also made the big plays down the stretch to keep Bren at bay in the two game stretch.

With M2 champions threatening to pull off a comeback in Game 1, Flick went with segue push in the midlane along with Jaylord “Hatred” Gonzales’ tank Chou to draw the series’ first blood, 21-9.

An earlier clash down the bottom lane where Onic secured three kills allowed the two to complete the GG push as Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy and Gerald “Dlarskie” Trinchera kept the remaining Bren players busy.

Flick also pulled off a crucial split push to take down Bren’s inhibitor turret in the bottom lane in Game 2. The push created the space which allowed Onic to pick off Brody in a mid-lane clash and take the free 19-minute Lord.

Onic, using the Cult Altar Ultimate of Baloyskie’s Faramis forced the final push as the Onic players locked on Bren’s base to end the series, 12-8, in Game 2.

Hatred also shone in his return to the support role unloading a 1-3-11 and 0-1-8 performances on the tank Chou while Dlarskie contributed 7-2-6 and 2-1-6 KDAs on the Yu Zhong in the two games.

Onic advanced to the lower bracket semifinals and will face the winner between Omega Esports and Nexplay Evos.
