Bren Victress, Omega Empress clash in all-Filipino quarterfinals in MWI


Only one Filipino team will get the chance to go deep in the playoffs of the ONE Esports: MLBB women’s Invitational as Bren Victress and Omega Empress figure in an all-Filipino knockout quarterfinal match on Saturday, Jan. 29.

Bren finished at the second spot of the Group B standing with a 2-1 record while Omega placed tied for the second to fourth spots with Karra and IDNS Princess with identical 2-2 records.

The Empress however lost in the tiebreaker match against Karra and ended up at the third spot, pitting it against its compatriots in the first round of the playoffs.

Omega, which entered the second day of the group stage with a 1-1 record, got tripped by GPX Basreng 18-3 in its first match of the day. The Empress bounced back huge in their next assignment as it clobbered Malaysian squad Karra, 17-5.

Keishi, after struggling in Omega’s first game, redeemed herself with a perfect 6-0-8 performance on the Hayabusa to power the Empress’ rout of Karra.

Karra, though, came back at Omega in the tiebreaker for the second spot, taking down the Filipinas, 13-4. Chiisecake led the revenge game with a 4-1-3 KDA on Lancelot highlighted by a triple kill in the final clash of the match.

Yann provided support for the Malaysian squad with a 4-0-7 showing on the Yve. Shinoa was the lone bright spot for the Filipinas in the must-win game with a 3-1-0 score line on the Clint.

Meanwhile, the Victress easily cruised to victory against Lugiami, 17-3, in its lone match in the second day. Ashe put up his best performance so far in the tournament with a game high 7-0-3 KDA on the jungle Ling. She got ample support from Defrost’s Ruby and Taro’s Kimmy with 0-1-8 and 2-0-6 showings respectively.
