Senator Joel Villanueva on Friday, Jan 28 became the 10th senator to be infected with COVID-19 since the pandemic reached the country in 2020.
In his Viber account, Villanueva said he was tested COVID-19 positive through an RT-PCR test Thursday after he had fever and headache the day before.
Villanueva asked that those he had in contact with be made aware of his condition. He is now in isolation.
‘’Dahil bakunado at boosted po tayo, at sa tulong ng panalangin sa Diyos, malaki po ang tiwala ko na malalampasan natin itong balakid na magpatuloy ang trabaho natin sa Senado (Since I have been vaccinated and also had a booster shot, with God’s help, I have faith in hurdling this problem so I could resume my wok at the Senate),’’ he explained.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, nine other senators had been hit by the virus.
They are Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel F. Zubiri and Senators Juan Edgardo ‘’Sonny’’ M. Angara, Manuel ‘’Lito’’ Lapid, Ronald ‘’Bato’’ dela Rosa, Aquilino Pimentel III, Ramon Revilla Jr., Sherwin T. Gatchalian, Panfilo M. Lacson and Richard J. Gordon.
