Unexploded vintage bombs found in Manila hospital construction site


Two pieces of unexploded ordnance (UXO) or unexploded military ammunition and explosives were found at the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila parking lot construction site along Mabini Street in Malate, Manila on Wednesday, Jan. 26.

A 105 mm High Explosive Projectile and a 50mm Anti-aircraft ammunition were recovered by the Manila Police District Explosives and Ordnance Division (MPD-EOD) and are now under their custody for proper disposition.

The MPD-EOD were alerted to the findings by onsite security guard Rommel Alarcon Panaligan who went to the police at around 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 26.

According to the report, the bombs had actually been found earlier in the day at around 5:30 a.m. during excavation but the personnel onsite did not notify the police.

Panaligan immediately contacted the police after he arrived at work and found the two bombs inside the office.
