Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives have arrested an overstaying Jordanian man who turned out to be infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

BI intelligence chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said 43-year-old Al Barghouthi Tarek El Abed Darwish was arrested in Barangay San Jose, Baliuag, Bulacan in coordination with local police force.
Al Barghouthi was the subject of a warrant of deportation issued in October 2021 following a summary deportation order against him for overstaying and for violating the conditions of his stay.
He was arrested in front of his food stall business and brought to the Chinese General Hospital for swab testing where was found positive of the illness.
He was placed in isolation and will be transferred to the BI’s holding facility in Bicutan, Taguig following recovery.
