Cebu hands out P5K each to Odette clearing, relief ops personnel

CEBU CITY — At least P17 million was distributed by the Cebu provincial government to linemen, policemen and soldiers who helped in clearing and relief operations following last December’s Typhoon Odette.

The province gave P5,000 to each of the 3,413 linemen, policemen and soldiers.

Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia said the giving of the cash incentives was the province’s way of thanking the recipients for helping the province’s reenergization efforts and assisting the typhoon victims in the province.

Among those who received incentives were the linemen of Visayan Electric, Cebu Electric Cooperative (CEBECO) 1, 2 and 3, policemen from the Cebu Police Provincial Office and personnel of the Philippine Army 53rd Engineer Brigade, Task Group Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor and Regional Community Defense Group Region 7 (RCDG 7).

For the 2,609 policemen, the province handed P13,045,000 and P495,000 for the 99 RCDG 7 personnel.

The province spent P155,000 for the 31 personnel of the 53rd Engineer Brigade, Phil. Army and P470,000 for the 94 personnel from AFP Task Group Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor.

The province also shelled out P180,000 for the 36 VECO personnel, P825,000 for the
165 personnel of CEBECO 1, P1,065,000 for the 213 personnel of CEBECO 2, and P830,000 for the 166 personnel of CEBECO 3.
