According to Agent Bamboo, PDEA team leader, the contraband was intercepted after the K9 team was conducting random paneling on vehicles on board a Roll on Roll off (Roro) vessel from Dumangas port in Iloilo province.

Bamboo said the illegal drugs were sealed in a Chinese tea bag packaging and was placed inside the compartment of a Toyota Corolla Altis.

Bamboo said they have not determined yet the source of the contraband, which was believed to be sourced out outside Western Visayas.

Bamboo said the arrested persons, who were considered high value individuals because of the huge volume of illegal drugs recovered, will be charged for illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

Both suspects who are now under the custody of PDEA-Negros Occidental have yet to be reached for comment.

The operation was also led by the Maritime Group-Bacolod, Philippine Coast Guard - Negros Occidental, and Police Station 2 here.
