Winners at 31st High1 Seoul Music Awards
The 31st High1 Seoul Music Awards (SMA) ceremony was held on Jan. 23 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul to honor outstanding artists who released music in 2021.
K-pop boy band NCT 127 emerged as the biggest winner of the night, taking home the “daesang” or grand prize.

This is the first time that NCT 127 won the grand prize at SMA. In the last four years from the 27th to the 30th SMA ceremonies, BTS bagged the grand prize.
The winners of the “bonsang” (main prize) are NCT 127, BTS, IU, Lim Young-woong, Aespa, Seventeen, ENHYPEN, Heize, Brave Girls, Oh My Girl, Kang Daniel, ATEEZ and The Boyz.
The winners of the bonsang were selected based on judges and SMS organizing committee selection (40 percent), total album and digital song sales (30 percent) and worldwide mobile voting (30 percent). The music sales data were provided by Hanteo Chart.
NCT Dream bagged the best album award while IU won the best song award.
Besides the bonsang, BTS also won the World Best Artist Award and U+Idol Live Best Artist Award.
At the 30th SMA last year, BTS won six awards: grand prize, main prize, best album, best song, WhosFandom award and K-Wave (Hallyu) award.
The 31st SMA was organized by Korean media outlet Sports Seoul and the SMA organizing committee.
