"#Alive" film star and Korean actress Park Shin-hye, 31, and actor Choi Tae-joon, 30, will be getting married today, Jan. 22.
The wedding will be held in a private location in Seoul. No other details were released by their agencies.
In March 2018, Park Shin-hye and Choi Tae-joon admitted that they had been dating since the end of 2017 after a news report came out.
"Park Shin Hye and Choi Tae Jun progressed from friends to lovers and began dating since the end of last year. They give strength to each other. Please look fondly on the couple who have recently started their romantic relationship,” said Salt Entertainment then, SBS News reported.
Ahead of the wedding, Salt Entertainment, Park Shin-hye’s agency, released wedding pictorial photos of the couple on Jan. 22.
“Today, actress Park Shin-hye is getting married to actor Choi Tae-joon. Please support actress Park Shin-hye. We would like to thank everyone who gave their blessing. In the future, actress Park Shin-hye will do her best to show a good image to everyone. Thank you for your warm support,” according to the agency.
Park Shin-hye and Choi Tae-joon were in the theater department of Chung-Ang University. They both debuted as child actors.
In the hit 2003 drama “Stairway to Heaven,” Park Shin-hye played the young Choi Ji-woo. Choi Tae-joon played the young character of Jo In-sung in the 2001 drama “Piano.”
Park Shin-hye other acting credits include “#Alive,” “The Call,” “Memories of the Alhambra” and “Miracle in Cell No.7.”
Last Nov. 23, Park Shin-hye surprised fans when she announced that she was getting married and she is pregnant with his baby.
“The weather is getting chilly these days. I am wondering if you all are taking good care of yourselves. Recently, I found the first contract that I signed with my first agency 20 years ago. I was a 6th grader back then, and I held the career of an actress in my second year in middle school. Time indeed flies as another 18 years have passed since then,” she said, according to SBS News.
She added, “So many people look after me through my youth, and thanks to their love and encouragement, I became an actress who showed you many sides of myself through various projects. There were countless times when I was happy to be in front of the camera, but when there were times that I struggled, it was my fans who gave me strength and courage. The words from you, telling me to be strong, were just enough to make me stand back up.”
“That may be all the reason why I am so nervous to tell you this news today, and I'm concerned that you may be greatly shocked. However, I wanted you all to be the first ones to find out,” Park Shin-hye said.
She added, “I am getting married to the person I have been seeing for a while now. He was my pillar of support for a long time, and he embraced the person Park Shin Hye with all of her lacking qualities. So I'm planning to start a new life with him as a married couple.”
“Furthermore, although I am a little hesitant to discuss this since it is still in its very early stages, but while we began preparing for our marriage, a precious new life came to us. I wanted to share this news to you first, most of all,” the actress said about her pregnancy.
She said, “I promise to show you a good side of me even after building up my own family. Thank you so much for loving me and supporting me while I'm still lacking in so many ways. It may take a while, but I'm going to do my best to return as an actress as soon as possible, without making you wait too long. Please stay healthy until then, and I will bid you a farewell for now.”
Choi Tae-joon also wrote a letter to fans, saying, “I have a precious someone that I have shared many emotions with for a long time and continued a meaningful relationship with. He is like a savior who silently taught me how to smile brightly when I am happy and how to cry out when I am sad. Now, in order to achieve the fruits of this grateful love, we are about to make a promise as a couple.”
He also revealed about the baby, saying, “And, although I am careful to tell you, in the process of preparing for a new chapter in life, a precious life has come to us. I think you must have been surprised by the sudden news, but I want to tell you first of all to convey my sincerity, albeit in insufficient words.”
