Man arrested after snatching PWD’s cellphone in Valenzuela

A man was arrested by police after allegedly snatching a cellphone from an 18-year-old person with disability (PWD) in Malanday, Valenzuela City on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

Police Senior Master Sgt. Roberto Santillan and Pat. John Ray Dina of Barangay Malanday Police Sub-Station 6 identified the suspect as Reynaldo Catada, 45.

According to victim “John”, he was standing near his house on Lingahan St. in Malanday at around 11 p.m. when Catada snatched his bag containing his cellphone.

The PWD said he tried to fight back but the snatcher pushed him against the wall. He sustained minor injuries.

John reported the incident to Santillan and Dina who were then conducting “Oplan Galugad” near the area.

Police said Catada was nabbed after a chase.

The cops recovered the stolen phone and bag from the suspect.

Catada is now under the custody of Valenzuela City Police Station and will be charged with robbery, according to the police report.
