A sweet treat courtesy of Honolulu HK Café Philippines
Chinese New Year is all about family get-togethers, practicing age-old traditions, and, of course, feasting on good food. Filipinos, with their love for dining and family, observe the event by bringing out the best dishes on the table, from the oriental noodle dishes and dumplings to the classic tikoy done in a myriad of ways. As we ring in the Year of the Tiger, invite more good fortune to your banquet with this cake that’ll definitely bring everyone to the table.
For the Lunar New Year, Honolulu HK Café Philippines is offering Filipino families again its traditional Chinese Red Date Cake. Much like tikoy but elevated, this dark caramel-colored cake is made of glutinous rice flour that is made more flavorful with the earthy sweetness of red dates.
Since its establishment in the Philippines in 2019, Honolulu HK Café Philippines has been serving the best dishes from the East and West to Filipinos. Founded by Yeung Jin Hei in the 1940s in Hong Kong, the cafe continues to do its culinary mission by serving its 80-year-old heritage locally at its stores in SM Aura Premier and Robinsons Place Manila.
Its Chinese Red Date Cake is available in both branches. Visit @honoluluhkcafeph on Instagram to know more about its latest offerings.
